The south shore of Long Island enjoys a beautiful coastline with the Atlantic Ocean but has a high exposure to its tides, storms, and storm surges. We remember Superstorm Sandy. While afforded more protection in most places by its bays, towns such as Merrick are still vulnerable to damage by these threats to life and property. As climate change is expected to create rising ocean levels in the coming decades, we invite you to come to an educational presentation hosted by our native plant and landscape chapter, Wild Ones New York Metro Region, in conjunction with Laura Schwanof an expert from GEI Consultants, Inc. of Huntington Sta.
