Visit to St Joseph and LINPI
St Joseph’s convent, Brentwood, NY
Public Welcome Registration Required Public Garden Tour
Wild Ones New York Metro Region Chapter will enjoy a tour of both the Convent of the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Long Island Native Plant Initiative both next to each other in Brentwood, NY commencing at 10:30 AM and finishing at roughly 2:30 PM. There will be a 30-minute lunch break between the tours.
At St. Josephs we will be educated on their on-going program of forest restoration and prairie grass installations (removing turf grass), and their efforts to eradicate invasive plant species. With a lunch break in between, we will then proceed to the LI Native Plant Initiative to learn of their work harvesting local seed and propagating plants for sale to the public. LINPI will generously provide a 20% discount on plant purchases to our attendees for that day.
To attend, please reply to [email protected] with an ‘affirmative’. If you have mobility problems, St. Josephs can provide transportation with their golf carts. Please advise if you require this service. We will take a 30-minute lunch break between these two tours, so it is advisable to bring a lunch with you. If you don’t plan to attend, it is unnecessary to reply. Those planning on joining this event will receive a ‘reply’ confirmation that they are on the list. We will plan to meet about 10:10 AM so that we can begin touring promptly at 10:30 AM. The rain date for this event will be Saturday, July 26.
